Hopium Machina came on display lately, with its promising features that will make the roads more loaded wih eco friendly vehicles, not only feeding on electric batteries, but also moving with hydrogen fuel. The concept was the idea of a French autosport competitor, but the Japanese engineers seem to be equally interested in hydrogen future.
Hopium Machina Will Transform the Hydrogen Fuel Cars by Becoming More Eco-friendly
The Japanese government, on its turn, has aimed to become the most hydrogen-centric territory on the globe in their future plans. By March 2021 they target to build 160 hydrogen stations and over forty thousand FCEVs (fuel cell electric vehicles). By 2030 the aim tends to reach 900 stations and cars working on hydrogen fuel for nearly 800,000 examples, including buses.
Why Tesla Thinks Cars Like Hopium Machina Don’t Have Enough to Enter the Competition
When asked about how Elon sees the idea behind the hydrogen fueled cars, he defined it as stupid. Maybe he thought it is way more expensive and at the same time not supported enough, as its infrastructure is not well spread. There are very few hydrogen fuel stations worldwide, which makes it difficult to do long rides. And before Hopium Machina becomes a rival to Tesla models, there will definitely be a need of huge investments and a lot of time.
Hydrogen has an abundant quantity in space. It is in the formation of the water too. But before it can be a ready made fuel for electric vehicles, there is a long way to go. What is more, steam heating does not provide the same amount of hydrogen energy as obtaining it through gas. Here the energy efficiency reaches no higher than seventy percent. The production location of the hydrogen is very important in means of the quality of the fuel. In order to press the hydrogen, there needs to be a proper lower temperature of more than 250 degrees.
To store this hydrogen is another headache. There needs to be higher density for more energy. Though for pressure, the consumption of energy does not match the expected results. So it is more of a loss than a win.
The Price Tag of Vehicles Tells a Whole Story About Charging Times
Indeed, the electric vehicles that are existent in the global car market are not very expensive. This refers to Tesla models, when compared to other manufacturers’ hydrogen equivalents. Coming under 30,000 US dollars, however, Tesla has a disadvantage. It takes too long to charge, in around three hours, and it has lower range of drive before another charging session is needed. The hydrogen ones can be charged just under five minutes. Hopium Machina, though, will go through plenty of modifications, before one will be able to test it on the roads. The changes will not only be in its core performance, but also in the design.

Hopium Machina is going to have 493hp engine, with 368kw. It has a look of an ultra luxury sedan, with its comfortable interior details, which yet have to be revealed. It has distinctive edges, the rear part reminding of manufacturers like LOTUS or PORSCHE. The car will be sold in different parts of the world including USA, Japan, France and China.
